Does Winn-Dixie Drug Test Their Employees?
As a department store chain, Winn-Dixie shares its workplaces with its customers. Hence, Winn-Dixie aims to provide a safe and pleasant environment for its clients and employees.
Due to this concern, as well as the daily handling of foods and other perishable items, Winn-Dixie would surely be assiduous in promoting a safe and drug-free workplace.
Drug testing is a standard company policy of Winn-Dixie and is a requirement for employment and promotions.
For this reason, Winn-Dixie regularly conducts random drug testing on its employees to prevent untoward accidents in the workplace due to drug use.
Moreover, around 50 percent of Winn-Dixie’s drivers regularly undergo random drug testing every year. Recently, Winn-Dixie announced that all management-level personnel is required to undergo drug-testing.
This management-level personnel includes store managers and location managers. Likewise, all newly-hired full-time and part-time personnel are also required to submit to drug screening.

As with other retail companies that handle food products and other consumable or perishable items, Winn-Dixie needs to ensure that its employees understand the value of upholding the company standards regarding the goods and services offered or delivered.
During the pre-employment phase, applicants are subjected to a series of structured interviews and are also required to undergo drug screening after they are given conditional job offers.
With this rigorous process, Winn-Dixie can readily determine those applicants who are worthy of being hired.
What Drugs Does Winn-Dixie Test For?
Winn-Dixie requires its prospective employees and present employees to undergo random drug testing using the 5-panel drug test.
This type of test usually can detect the five commonly abused street drugs, namely, cocaine, marijuana, opiates (opium), phencyclidine (PCP), and amphetamines.
What Types of Drug Test are used
Winn-Dixie utilizes the 5-panel urine drug test or UDT. UDT is an effective and affordable means of detecting illicit substances in the human body in the form of metabolites.
Metabolites, as by-products of ingested drugs, linger longer in the system of a person.
Two UDT methods are currently in use, namely, immunoassay and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.
Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry is only employed if the urine sample becomes positive after conducting immunoassay urine testing.
