Arcata, California Green Fleets Resolution

In Support of
Greening City Of Arcata VehiclesWHEREAS, the City of Arcata recognizes that energy use associated with the operation of its motor vehicles exacerbates local air quality problems and results in greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global climate change: andWHEREAS, the City of Arcata, in demonstrating its concern, is a participant in the International Council for local Environmental Initiatives’ Cities for Climate Protection Campaign, which encourages its members to further participate by adopting their “Green Fleets” initiative; and

WHEREAS, the City of Arcata has a goal to purchase alternative vehicles to improve local air quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and set an example for the private sector and the community at large;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the City of Arcata will develop a “Green Fleets” plan which includes an inventory of fleet vehicles; establishment of clear goals for reducing energy use and emissions from fleet activities; and action steps to achieve stated goals.
